COTTAGE BLOCKS

Cottage blocks are made from carefully selected single solid wood which are finished by hand as well as engineered options which combines two planks of different materials for increased stability. County blocks are guaranteed to the highest quality, individual floors that result in a timeless beauty that adds to any home, office or commercial environment.

Distressed wood

'Distressed' is an old and reclaimed look where the sanded board is treated in a special mechanical process that creates a multitude of marks, dents and scratches at random across the surface and the edges of the board.

Footworn wood

To further enhance the old and reclaimed look that is created by the distressing process there is the option to add an irregular, hand-sanded, rounded texture to the edges and the larger knots of the boards before distressing them. Each individual board is hand-crafted resulting in a floor that has an old worn look. This look is particularly effective in listed buildings, barn restorations and old timber frame structures.

Planed wood

The planed surface is one where the fine machine marks are not sanded out. This results in showing very fine planer marks that are generated by the production line. These marks not only subtly show up on the finished surface of the boards but also create an interesting finish due to the more open texture of the grain. Pigments in the finish will settle unevenly across the boards resulting in a much more interesting distribution of colour

Barn wood

The choice for a natural aged and raw weathered look for any interior. The boards have not been stained or coloured to achieve this warm colour but hand finished with multiple coats of commercial hard wax oil.

Ripped wood

Ripped effect is created by splitting the wood and ripping the grain. The oak is not sanded or planed but is split in a special process that results in characteristic rips and splits in the surface, which adds to the character of the boards.

Herringbone wood

A herringbone pattern provides timeless beauty and class to any interior. Using a traditional pattern of individual blocks creates a striking classic look of the floor.
